like the sun,
you’re the warmth on my skin,
the glow on my cheeks
and the pinnacle of my life and growth and joy.
But like the sun,
I cannot stare at you too long,
too close I come, and I will burn,
too little away from you, I will freeze.
and finally, if there is nothing of you at all,
I think I, along with my universe,
might die.
